Ranking articles in this category follow a recognisable pattern. Knowing it makes them considerably easier to read.
The usual construction
Step one: find the programmes. Whoever writes the list checks which products have affiliate programmes and what each pays. Products without one are generally not in the running, regardless of quality.
Step two: order by commission. The highest-paying product tends to occupy the top slot. Lower-paying ones fill the rest to make the list look considered.
Step three: write around it. Descriptions come largely from brand marketing copy. Ingredient amounts and research rarely enter.
Step four: add a token negative. A minor criticism of each product — "packaging could be better", "only available online" — to signal independence without discouraging anyone.
How to spot it
- No serving sizes. A genuine memory supplement comparison cannot skip this, because it changes cost per day several-fold.
- No amounts. If a brain supplement comparison never states milligrams, it has not compared anything.
- Criticism that costs nothing. Real drawbacks are things like an interaction, an animal-derived capsule, or a long trial period. "Ships from the US only" is not a drawback.
- Every product is excellent. In any real category some products are poor. A list where all five are recommended has not filtered anything.
- No disclosure, or disclosure buried at the bottom. If it is not stated clearly, assume a commercial relationship anyway.
What a useful comparison would contain
Six columns, filled for every product before any opinion is formed: serving size, days of supply, cost per day including shipping, actives individually listed or not, headline ingredient amount versus published research, and known interactions.
That is a table anyone can build in ten minutes, and it produces a ranking specific to you rather than to someone's commission structure.
On memory supplement reviews generally
The same applies to review sections. Brain health supplement reviews with no negative entries have been curated. Reviews describing immediate effects from a gradual formula are describing expectation, a stimulant, or fiction.
What is worth reading in a review is the specifics: how long before anything changed, what exactly changed, and whether the person took it consistently. Everything else is noise.
The honest disclosure
This site earns a commission when someone buys through it. That is stated in the footer of every page, and it is the reason to check the four things above rather than take any ranking at face value — ours included.
